West Ham set to renew kit manufacturer in record-breaking deal

by Louis Nixon

West Ham United and kit manufacturer, Umbro, have put pen to paper in a record-breaking deal for the Hammers.

The newly agreed deal will reportedly be a ‘much higher’ fee than the previous one of just £7 Million.

The new deal will push West Ham into the 8th-highest-paid Premier League manufacturing deal, slotting just behind Aston Villa, whose kits are made by Castore.

Umbro currently manufacture kits for three other Premier League clubs: Bournemouth, Brentford and Ipswich. The highest of which is Bournemouth, being paid a measly £2 Million per season.

Umbro originally became West Ham’s kit manufacturer back in 2015; both parties were keen to have a renewed deal as West Ham hasn’t been afraid to change and move around sponsorships in recent years. JD and now Betway have been removed as sponsorships, JD have been replaced with QuickBooks, and Betway’s replacement has yet to be known.

Betway’s deal was not renewed after the current betting scandal with West Ham player Lucas Paqueta. The player is currently under investigation by the FA and is awaiting a court case. Therefore, with the controversy surrounding the betting company, West Ham has decided to find a replacement after a nine-year sponsorship.

West Ham will now reportedly earn a total of £23 Million per year with all their shirt sponsors [Including Betways].
