AI is quickly changing education by providing new methods for learning, teaching and much more.

These days, AI- powered tools can identify knowledge gaps, adjust the speed of the student and also identify the learning experience. Mostly, the teachers are utilising AI to automate and streamline administrative tasks as classrooms become increasingly digitally integrated, giving students more time to concentrate on their growth.

Personalised learning is one of AI’s most significant applications. It can also evaluate a student’s learning preferences, areas of strength and shortcomings to even customising course materials. Programs like DreamBox, ChatGPT and Carnegie learning, for example, provide adaptive courses that adjust based on a student’s success, making sure that student understands the fundamentals before continuing.

AI-driven learning is being tested in East London schools, particularly through creative pilot projects like those at Rise Academy and David Game College. These schools use AI to modify the curriculum in real time based on students’ strengths and weaknesses, tailoring instruction to each student’s needs. In areas like mathematics, for example, AI can offer customised workouts that could speed up learning. Learning coaches are added to the AI-driven classrooms to provide human direction, so they are not entirely teacher-less. These tests demonstrate how AI has the ability to completely transform education, particularly by offering scalable personalised learning.

AI has the potential to increase inclusivity in education, but guaranteeing access to these advanced tools is still difficult, particularly in under-resourced schools. If not carefully controlled, there is a risk of over-standardisation from overreliance on AI, and it could suppress critical thinking and creativity.
