Rapper Nines announced he’s retiring from the music scene back in September and then sold out a O2 arena show just weeks later.
Courtney aka Nines has been rapping since he was 17 years old and now after 15 years, he made the call to retire from music, this wasn’t exactly a shock to his fans as he has been rapping about retiring since 2016 and even mentions in a song of his ‘NIC’ “I ain’t a rapper, I’m a drug dealer that raps”. Fans know that Nines has been in and out of prison multiple times and fans would get annoyed saying that he is ruining his potential and could be so much greater if he left that life behind, but that did not stop him from becoming one of the greatest rappers in the UK, and the love for him was shown in this sold out O2 arena show.
A lot of fans did struggle to believe him, because nines has mentioned retiring a few times like I mentioned and never ended up doing it until now, where he made the final call and announced it across all his social media’s. The tickets for this O2 show sold out in 10 minutes, this is a big deal for a rapper who was arrested multiple times prior to his shows and cancelled his previous show at the O2 Academy. Clavish opened this big show for Nines and was joined by Chy Cartier, Tiny Boost and Youngs Teflon. Once Clavishes set was over, a big inflatable crop cat appeared on stage, and it was time for nines to perform his last ever show. The show was something and Nines was joined by many artists like K trap performing his hit ‘warm’, Nafe Smallz, Tiggs da Author and a great friend of his, Skrapz.
There was so much little details throughout the show like nines coming on stage on a pedal bike wearing a backpack, which his early music videos included, drone shots of church road (where nines was raised) projected on the screens, the inflatable crop cat (representing his business) and at the end of the show a giant Arsenal top with the number 9 on it, nines has been representing Arsenal even before he rapped so this all made a lot of sense. Will this really be the end of Nines’ music and his final show? I guess we will have to wait and see.
